Ideas for Making a Decoupaged Table

Decoupaged Table

Decoupage is a fun and easy way to turn an old table into something special. With a little bit of paper and glue, you can transform a beat-up table into a one of a kind treasure. This technique is perfect for taking a piece of furniture from the thrift shop and turning it into a showpiece. You’ll love how inexpensive this is too.

Here are a few decoupaged tables to give you some ideas for the types of items you can use for decoupage.

Gifts to Make With Decoupage

One of my favorite craft techniques is decoupage.  The first Christmas ornament that I remember making as a child was with decoupage.  And that’s another reason why I love this craft so much.  The technique is ideal for kids and adults alike.

To decoupage all you need to do is take a design and glue it in place on whatever object you’d like.  The versatility of decoupage has no limits.  You can choose whatever material and objects you’d like to use, as there is almost nothing that won’t work.

The flexibility and versatility of decoupage makes it the ideal DIY technique to use for turning your trash to treasures.  Find the perfect tray, table or dishes at a yard sale but they need a little TLC?  Decoupage to the rescue!  Need a beautiful, but inexpensive gift idea?  Decoupage to the rescue!

As I mentioned above, all you need for decoupaging is mod podge (my glue of choice) and paper or fabric.  Here are just a few ideas for material that you could use.

  • Scrapbook paper
  • Wall paper
  • Napkins
  • Newspapers
  • Photos
  • Magazines
  • Comics
  • Wrapping paper
  • Tissue paper
  • Fabric

Decoupage on Glass

Glass is one of the best materials to use when decoupaging.  Not just because paper and materials adhere so nicely to it, but because it’s perfect with other arts and craft techniques as well.  So you can layer, or combine, your decoupage with paint and other elements.

Handmade Ornaments With Book Pages

Handmade Decoupage Ornaments

Ornaments aren’t just for Christmas.  You can use ornaments year-round to decorate your home for each season, or holiday.  And even if you think that ornaments are only for Christmas, that doesn’t mean that you can’t make ornaments all year.  Make a batch with the kids and put them away until Christmas when you can put them on your tree, or give them away as gifts.

This ornament tutorial shows you how to make Christmas ornaments using pages from an old book.  Add some food coloring to the mod podge and you can create colorful ornaments for any season.  And if you don’t want to use an old book, you could use a magazine, comic book, newspaper or greeting card for this decoupage project.
