These little paper purses are so cute and are perfect for kids to make. They can be used as party favors for a birthday party, or for kids to take into school for Valentine’s Day or any other special occasion. Kids will have lots of fun embellishing these purses and giving it a style all their own. So if you want kids at the party to make their own, you could prep the basic paper purse in advance and then let the kids decorate it.

Here’s a craft idea that is perfect to do with the kids. Make a flower and butterfly canvas piece of art by using your finger prints. You’ll love getting your hands dirty to bring out your inner child. A fun craft that’s perfect to make for Valentine’s Day, Easter or Mother’s Day.
Supplies for Finger Print Flowers and Butterflies
Another reason why I like this craft is that you don’t need many supplies. This example was made using canvas, but you could certainly use paper stock too.
1. Squeeze paint into tray and mix colors around until you get a mix that you like.
2. Dip fingers in paint and then press finger prints onto canvas to make the flowers and butterflies.
3. Use pens to add the stems and detailing to the print
4. Use your fingers to smudge the lines and blend the paints as needed.
I hope you enjoy giving these Spring crafts a try. The great thing about these crafts for kids is that there’s never a right or wrong way to do things. Anything creative and made with a child’s imagination is beautiful!
This adorable little owl is the perfect sewing project for kids. If your son, or daughter wants to learn how to sew, they’ll have fun learning all the basics when they make this little guy. Make felt fortune cookies for Valentine’s Day, to give out as party favors, or to create cute table decorations or center pieces. This craft is so easy, it’s perfect for the kids to do. Plus, it’s fun for kids to write their own secret messages to hide inside for their friends.
Christmas ornaments aren’t just a fun craft to do with the kids, but they are also great keepsakes to cherish for years to come. Every year that I open up our box of ornaments, I see the ones that I made as a child. Each one tells a story and reminds me of the year I made it. With each year you can see how my crafting skills improved and my expertise improved as a I got older. It’s what I love about crafts. They are perfect for all ages and imperfections are just our creative differences.

Making your own Christmas Cards is a great way to get in the Christmas spirit. Whether it’s a photo card that puts together a collage of your favorite family photos from throughout the year, or a homemade card with your own creative touches, a hand made Christmas card is a fun craft project for the whole family.
Christmas Card Ideas
There are a wide variety of Christmas cards that you can make. There are simple designs that are quick and inexpensive, and there are more elaborate designs that layer paper and accessories to create a magical keepsake for family and friends. One of the best things about a Christmas card is that you can make them with your kids. They may not have the attention span to help with them all, but I’m sure that there’s a step or two where they can lend a hand. Or, let the kids make a special card for their Grandparents or teacher.
Here’s a look at the types of Holiday Cards that you can make for Christmas this year.
This snowy mountain card by lindsay.dee.bunny (via Flickr CC 2.0) shows what you can do with a little paper. If you don’t have a die-cut machine to make the trees, you could cut some out by hand or use tissue paper to glue down your own trees. Or another idea would be to make a needle felted tree and glue that to the card. I love adding texture and depth to a card.
I love the creativity and ingenuity used to make this card. The Christmas tree is made from a bike chain that has been painted green and then shaped into a tree. What a brilliant idea shared by Richard Masoner via Flickr CC 2.0
Are you newlyweds celebrating your first Christmas together? Or maybe there’s a new baby in the house? This photo ornament card is a great way to show-off your news. All you have to do is make a photo ornament, take a picture of it and then add a greeting. You’ll enjoy working on every step of this project. Photo courtesy of njt1982 via Flickr CC 2.0
Kids love getting involved with Christmas and want to help whenever they can. Let them get involved with the family card, or let them make one for someone special. I’m sure that this adorable card would be loved by all. You can also make copies of your kids artwork and turn it into a card. I did this with one of my son’s drawings when he was too young to write. I made a card using a photo I took of the drawing. I then used Send Out Cards to make Thank You notes with his drawing on the front and my writing on the inside. A frame-able card that we still have on display! Photo via Brentwood Borough Council via Flickr CC 2.0
Here are a few more ideas. All of these cards were made with scrapbook paper, card stock and and lots of creativity.
Halloween just wouldn’t be as much fun if you didn’t have a fun bag or bucket to carry your candy. Sure, the older kids are partial to a pillow case because it can hold so much. But for the younger kids, a cute little bucket is a must-have accessory for any Halloween costume.
Here are some of my favorite DIY Halloween treat bags and candy containers.
DIY Silly Halloween Bucket
This cute bucket is so easy to make. All you need is a cheap orange pail that you can buy at the dollar store, party store, hardware store or Home Depot.
Use styrofoam balls for the eyes, pipe cleaners for the eye lashes and the silly mouth is an upside down picture cut out of a magazine. Add whatever additional accents you’d like for hair, or to give it your own personality. This cute craft was created by belen junquera
Painted Halloween Candy Bucket
You can also use paint to decorate an orange bucket to create a cute trick-or-treat bucket. This is a fun Halloween craft idea for kids. In addition to painting, kids can also decorate the bucket with stickers, washi tape or stencils.
I love all of the fun and easy lighted Halloween crafts that you can make for the holiday. These ideas can be used to decorate the inside and outside of your home to welcome trick or treaters. Use these ideas as a starting point and then personalize each one to give it your own twist. This way you can make friendly, or spooky, Halloween decorations to fit your style.
You can make pretty Halloween lanterns and displays using milk cartons, or by simply building your own design using cardboard and paper. Here are a few ideas for how to create your own Halloween Lanterns or decorations using milk cartons.
Use a clean and dry milk carton, juice carton, or cardboard box.
Cut out a rectangle on each side of the box, leaving about a 1″ border all the way around. You are essentially creating a picture frame on each side of the box and your Halloween scene will go in the middle .
Paint the outside of the box black, or whatever dark color you’d like. Black paint is ideal because it adds to the Halloween scene and gives it the evening silhouette you want.
Cut out a piece of wax paper, parchment, or transparent paper that will allow light to shine through it.
Stencil a design onto the paper, or you could also cut out a design and glue that to the paper. This is where you can use your imagination to create a spooky or fun design. Some ideas include making a jack-o-lantern face, or a witch riding a broom. Black construction paper is perfect for creating cut-out designs and a sharpie marker can be used to hand-draw a design too.
Tape or glue the paper with the design to the inside of the box. You put the paper on the inside of the box so that the carton creates a frame around it.
TIP: Do you have solar powered garden lights along your front walkway? Charge the lights during the day and then on Halloween night go out and add the milk carton decorations over the light for a glow-in-the-dark Halloween decoration that will look really cool!
Milk Carton Halloween Village
You can use the same technique outlined above to create your very own Halloween village. This project is lots of fun to put on display on your front porch or entrance way. It will be the first thing that visitors see when knocking on your door for trick or treating.
I hope you enjoy making your own Halloween lanterns and light-up decorations. These are fun projects to do with the kids and you can make these crafts as easy, or complex, as you’d like. Get creative and build your very own Halloween light-up display.
Candles are a fun way to decorate the inside and outside of your house for Halloween. You can make your own Halloween decorations using glass jars and a little creativity. Add a spooky ghost, or witch on a broomstick to the mason jar to create a Halloween mason jar candle that will add just the right touch of spookiness to your decor.
Supplies Needed to Make a Flaming Glass Jar Halloween Candle:
Any clean glass jar. This can be a mason jar, food jar, or jelly jar that has been thoroughly cleaned and dried.
Instructions for making a Glass Jar Halloween Candle
Paint the inside of the jar orange. You can do this easily by mixing a little bit of mod podge and food coloring in the jar. Mix it right in the jar and then swirl it around to cover the inside of the jar. Let dry overnight.
Rip of pieces of masking tape (varying the length and width of each piece) and attach to the outside of the jar. You’re trying to make it look like flames. Place the tape along the bottom half of the jar, with the masking tape placed vertically to resemble the flames.
Paint the outside of the jar with black spray paint. Let dry.
Remove the masking tape.
Insert a battery-operated tea light, or candle, into the jar and you now have a candle that has the black and orange colors of Halloween, plus it looks like flames. Very cool!
You can also add some ribbon to the top of the jar, or any additional design elements that you think jazz it up a bit. I’ve outlined the basic steps, but you can get really creative with this one.
Here are a few pictures to show you how easy it is to make this flaming Halloween candle.
Add masking tape to candle to make it look like flames.
